Denture Relines

If your dentures are loose they may be able to be given a new lease of life by having a new base made for them called a reline. This involves an impression in silicone (See the Blue part of the image below) taken inside your denture.

The reline is NOT Blue when finished! This is simply to demonstrate how the impression looks.

Quality & Comfort

As time goes on, your gum tissues will change and the fit of the denture will become more loose and thus more prone to movement inside your mouth. Relines will enable you to use your current Dentures.

Denture Reline FAQ's

A denture reline involves reshaping the underside of your denture to better fit the contours of your gums, which can change over time due to bone loss or weight changes. It improves comfort and stability without needing a new denture.

Most people benefit from a reline every 1 to 2 years, but it depends on changes in your mouth and how well your dentures fit. We can recommend the right timing based on an evaluation of your denture.

A soft reline uses a flexible material and is ideal for patients with sensitive gums or sore spots. A hard reline uses more durable material for a longer-lasting fit, often done in the lab.

Depending on the reline type' we can generally complete a soft reline in 1–2 hours. A hard reline may take longer, depending on our schedule and workflow.

A reline does not change the appearance of your dentures, but it can significantly improve their fit, comfort, and function, making them feel more secure and natural.
