Suction Denture FAQ's
Suction dentures are a type of dental prosthetic that are provided by a limited number of dental clinics across the country. Their special construction allows them to rely on using atmospheric pressure to create a strong hold.
Once the dentures are placed and pushed onto the gum profile, air is pushed outwards, creating a seal which allows them to cling to your gums. When you need to take them out, a bit of force should cancel the vacuum seal. Removing the prosthetic may require a slight amount of force, but this isn’t anything to worry about, it simply means that you have premium-quality suction dentures and they are functioning as intended.
Suction dentures are only suitable for people with no natural teeth, but they’re an especially good option for you if you want to avoid procedures that include minor oral surgery, such as dental implants. They may also be the right choice for you if you find conventional dentures chunky or uncomfortable.
To care for and maintain your dentures, it is important to keep them clean with a specially designed denture brush and regular use of a cleaning solution. Kevin will explain how to take care of your dentures so they last for as long as possible.
